LOUD speakers: outdoor party music coordinator

A finishing touch I’d like to install into the maison Freo, is a hardwired outdoor speaker system. I think this would probably be a heck of a lot easier if I knew anything at all about speakers, or had a man-brain, or an interest in speaker wires vs hardwires: but alas: I mostly care that it’s the right colour and size.

For about two months now, I’ve been getting quotes from stereo stores, following Ebay auctions, speaking to my family (including an audio-engineer brother), checking the online reviews and price comparisons. But for the last ten days, the heat is on. I need the system ready in whatever parts it comes in, to be installed when its still ok to punch holes into the walls.

My original idea was to go through the proper channel: Bose. MY parents have had the same bose system for about a hundred years and its always been great – and so far – they are the only company I’ve found who make the entire system just the way I want it.

An outdoor speaker, mounted onto the wall. Connected to an AMP (don’t know where I’d put that), and connected to a AL8 wireless transmitter (somewhere in the roof I guess). The AL8 speaks to a second, inside AL8; which is connected to a home theatre type system with a fancy remote that allows you to pick and choose which zone to put music onto.

Someone needs to find a way to write all these speaker stuff down in ‘Girl’.

The Bose system is prohibitively expensive, on top of buying it, there are then cables and installers and opps… I can’t afford a beer to have in the garden while listening to the tunes.

So atm.. Im thinking getting some Polk Outdoor Atrium speakers, and connecting them to a Sonos Connect:AMP – running the music that way – and getting another Sonos for inside- maybe they can be friends somehow and work together? I guess we will see.. Im waiting to hear back from the questions I’ve posted on the Sonos Forums, Audio-shop in Melbourne, and everyone im pestering with questions (thanks Dad).
