A tall cool glass of hippy

This post follows the thought process of a woman choosing one thing from many options. Boys, read and take note: this happens in the lady-brain a zillion times a day. About everything.

Luckily Australia has a drinkable, fresh, and for most of the year cool tap water, that might not taste perfecto minus a filter - but it's fine. The countries insatiable appetite for plastic bottled water is scary given they are totally not required - but i do often find the water tasting pretty un-enjoyable after a few hours in the fridge so i am on the lookout for a filtration system.

I know i want something built in. I know i would prefer to have a seperate tap so i don't have to explain to guests every time how invisibly filtered my water is so they can drink it. I know those instant boil systems suck up my solar power (hippy kudos point reduction).

Wait..
Did i remember to lock the door?
Yes. OK continue.

There are various systems available, either for:

- just drinking water with a separate tap and filter system above or below the sink (many brands, between $70 and $300)
- chilled or boiled filtered water (like the Zip systems $400 - $2000)
- Alkaline water filters (increase the level of hippy in your water (huge kudos in Fremantle for that feature in my future sales listing) by somehow making it more alkaline (probably with the use of coloured crystals) - about $100-$1500)
- whole or partial entire house water filtration - so the water in all the taps, showers and sink is filtered - or perhaps just the cold water in the kitchen or shower.

Taking into consideration my:

- sink underspace,
- my one-hole-ceramic-sink,
- hippy kudos points current account with solar power and grey water systems factored in,
- general high level of sarcasm/dubious-ness with regard to water alkalizing hippy cleansing earth healing filters,
- my worries about small children and drunk adults burning themselves on instant hot water systems
- ENORMOUS water glasses
- disdain for guests who care if the water 'is filtered or not' enough to ask (just shut up and drink it fool)

It seems that i come to the safe conclusion i will only be happy with either entire or partial filtration for the mains water. In other words, i want to shower in filtered water because Perth-water makes my hair frizzy. Or other words, i want to rinse my hippy organic vegetables in hippy water and then make fun of the hippys that sold me the vegetables. Or other words, yes, you were right (you know who you are).

Step 5: PRODUCT SELECTION. Options:

http://www.water2water.com.au/products_house.html the 'HiFlow' entire house mains water filter system (have river pebbles on brochure cover - seems hippy-friendly if you ask me).

- It has half-micron filtration guaranteed. As i don't know what this means, i can assume is complicated, expensive and absolute necessary and will accept nothing less. They also don’t put the price on the website.. again.. Must be more expensive than I’m anticipating and therefore the only option.

Here’s a good website –  I like website’s that show the business owners picture on the front page.  It makes me laugh and then I’m happy and that’s never a bad thing so quite possibly the way to go.
HOWEVER MR waterfilterman. Telling me I can look at the ‘whole house filter options’ and then just sending me to a feedback form where by you may harvest my quality personal database details and call me up to sell me things is bad.
I need a picture and a link to something that says ‘Free next day delivery and installation and 12 month replacement if it dies here is a secure credit card form’.

I give up. Back to square one. Ebay + handy-man-Dad who can install a water filter system for me (provided it meets his higher-hippy-kudos-point requirement) = Success.
