Tying up very loose ends

I got a message from my builder asking me to sort out a final list of what needs to happen from his side, and he provided me a list with what i need to get on with for him to finish everything. It's actually quite hard to decipher what needs to happen at this stage - because there are so many fiddly bits to do. I made an enormous list, which I'm getting through slowly (note to self (and other selves), no one helps you when you build, even when you ask - only on promise of food or favours, even money doesn't actually get you far).

Luckily, the arrival of my brother made everything move along a little bit faster, getting the house tidy and putting furniture where it needed to be so he could stay there. There's no where to wash your hands, one room is totally off limits and full of building stuff - but the kitchen and living areas are habitable (not totally finished though).

He doesn't seem to mind - and it has meant I've got to use the house for fun rather than work - AND it has shown up everything that isn't working - that i wouldn't have known about until well and truly after the builder had gone.

For instance, the water in the kitchen is nice and hot, but the water in the bathrooms is lukewarm.

And the drain for the AC's is blocked up because the landscaper paved over it (waterfall onto new sofa)..

We've already gone through the drama of bathroom taps being in the wrong place (thanks to excellent work of a cabinet maker), which meant tiles were ripped off, plumbers back in, more tiles please, more plumbing please... And this is the fault of? Well - the owner who is responsible for finishing her house.

And, 2 months after the Ilve range hood arrived, was installed - and doesn't actually work. And the fix-it guys won't call me back. Maybe you get what you pay for... Peanuts.. Monkeys..

I've got the worlds longest list of painting jobs to get underway, basically, and chasing up other funny jobs, like reticulation, which 3 gardeners have stood me up now to avoid doing that job.

The floor heating works brilliantly - but you can't take a picture of that :)

Inaugural slice of cold pizza in oven :) First thing to be heated up!

New sofa in it's spot!

Inaugural impromptu use of the kitchen, to cook up some swordfish, rays bream and salad (plus cheesecake) with my brother & sister in law.

Wooo!! Another inauguration of the use of the fire pit in the garden - but haven't totally got around to cleaning up the garden yet.

BBQ out the kitchen doors!

Eating at the island :) It works! We did it!!
